The Woodlands, a 27,000 acre forest that once yielded timber, is now home to almost 100,000 people.  The community now provides a place where humans and nature live in harmony.  It formally opened on October 19, 1974 and emerged as a thriving community.  It "The Woodlands" was a vision of George Michell.  While many other developers were developing communities that eventually were unsuccessful, Mr. Mitchell and his team of experts from around the country worked very hard to see that The Woodlands did not fall into that category.  30 years later The Woodlands is one of the most successful Master Planned communities in the World! 

The Woodlands has nine residential villages; Grogan's Mill, Panther Creek, Cochran's Crossing, Alden Bridge, Indian Springs, College Park, Sterling Ridge, and Creekside Park which just celebrated its Grande Opening.  The Community also has The Woodlands Town Center for shopping and dining, The Woodlands Waterway, and The Woodlands Market Place. 

The Woodlands has miles of hike and bike paths, parks, pools, Lake Woodlands, YMCA's and Signiture gold courses for the residents to enjoy.
